A similar scenario happens when bringing back the blue page to Achenar.

If the player brings back the red page, Sirrus swaps places with The Stranger, then gloats about being free and tears out the pages of the red book, trapping The Stranger in it. There, The Stranger finds the final two pages of the game as well as a green book, which Sirrus and Achenar both plead not to touch, as it will trap The Stranger in another prison book. They both mention pattern 158 in a burnt book and to use it in the fireplace. He also proclaims that Sirrus killed their father and will kill you if you release him. On the other hand, Achenar claims that Sirrus burnt the books and killed all the inhabitants, due to his lust for power and riches. Sirrus fears that their father has died since and he will forever be trapped in the book. Sirrus blames Achenar for burning the books, claiming that he is crazy and is bent on destruction, breaking the trust that Atrus gave them when they became adults and that Atrus trapped them both since he couldn't tell who was lying and who was telling the truth. After exploring the ages, The Stranger finds the pages and brings them to the prison books. He also notes that he hid the remaining books. The Stranger also finds a message from Atrus to Catherine, mentioning that one of their sons burned all but four of the linking books in The Library. Both beg The Stranger to explore the ages of Stoneship, Channelwood, Mechanical and Selenitic and bring back the pages that match the color of their book. The Stranger then finds two prison books, a red book which contains Sirrus and a blue book which contains Achenar. The Stranger finds the Myst linking book at the bottom of the Star Fissure and unexpectantly links to Myst Island. But you know … FemShep Paragon works too.Spoiler warning: Hints, solutions, and/or spoilers follow.Īs realMYST is merely an updated version of the original Myst, the plot remains mostly the same. (Yes, I’m so behind!) I’m pretty busy so I can’t play a lot. I’m currently playing Uncharted 4 with The Last of Us on deck. But also others that I know have great soundtracks. Wall: I like to play the games I work on - just to see what damage has been done. I once hired a musician who made her own instruments out of clay.įANDOM: What games do you play? If you play Mass Effect, who is your favorite character and why? Paragon or Renegade? I love finding musicians that do interesting and unique things with their instruments. Making new sounds from synths and sampling the world. A really great mysterious voice works for me. I like guitar and guitarviol if they are played in ways we don’t hear every day. Trevor Morris and Sean Callery are among my faves.įANDOM: What’s your favorite instrument or sound you try to put in your compositions? I’m a fan of Richard Jacques, Sam Hulick, Jimmy Hinson (Big Giant Circles), Gordy Haab, and too many others to name. But also my friends in the games industry as well. I love Tom Newman, John Williams, James Horner (RIP), James Newton Howard, Hans Zimmer. And to just go with that.įANDOM: What are your favorite soundtracks, gaming or otherwise?
Real myst composer how to#
Over the years, I have learned how to do that….that my first thoughts are almost always my best thoughts. But also, you really just have to trust your instincts. It’s about opening yourself up to what it should be. Those are my 2 go-tos for priming the creative pump. I’ll literally go for a walk to clear my head or take a shower.

If I’m stuck or it’s not happening, I’ll walk away. Well, except that you have to just sit down and do it. Telling stories is where my passion lies.įANDOM: What routine do you do to get in a composing mood? Wall: Well, I really love sci-fi and action adventure, but also projects which have some drama to it and a real story. It’s similar to scoring a movie.įANDOM: How do you approach creating soundtracks for games in different genres? Do you gravitate to one over another? We try to create a story through the gameplay of the level and an arc to the drama of it all. I generally will get video playthroughs of an entire level and then I do what’s called a “spotting session” with the audio director where we figure out where music is going to go and what the function of the music is, the palette, etc. (Yes, he’s a gamer himself when he has a spare moment.)įANDOM: Do you build the soundtrack around the game or vice-versa? Wall shared what inspires him to work as well as his favorite titles. His works have brought excitement to action sequences and depth to emotional ones.įANDOM spoke with Wall ahead of his concert in Los Angeles. Over the last 20+ years, the prolific composer has scored the soundtracks to many best-selling titles, including the Myst franchise, Splinter Cell, Jade Empire, Mass Effect, and Call of Duty. If you’re a video gamer, you’re probably very familiar with Jack Wall’s works.
